General Education Development (GED)

You can get your GED diploma right here at the Northern College in Espanola. Here is some basic information to get you started:

Note: For GED classes call Robin Duran 747-2195 at Adult Basic Education.


GED Testing Procedures

In order to be scheduled to take the GED tests:

  1. You must be 18 or older.
    • If 17 you must complete an underage permission form (Form can be obtained at the GED testing office).
  2. Must be a New Mexico resident with proof.
    • Present NM ID or Drivers License from Dept. of Motor Vehicles
  3. Must complete a GED Registration form
    • Form can be obtained at the GED testing office or online
  4. Must bring a receipt for payment for GED testing
    • Payment needs to be made to Northern's Cashier
      • Cost is $60.00 for the entire battery of 5 tests including the orientation
      • Individually: $12.00 for each test (May take each test 3 times)

All the above documents must be received by Pam Montrose the GED Chief Examiner in order to schedule testing. Test schedule fills about 1 week in advance on a first come first served basis.

  1. The GED tests are administered over two days. Approximate test length for each test is 1 1/2hrs. See below for testing schedule.
  2. On testing date must arrive with two forms of ID
    • One must be a Department of Motor Vehicles picture I.D. or a drivers license
    • If you are 17 your under age permission slip must be provided to the tester not later than the day of testing
