NNMC is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools. Northern gained candidacy status in 1975, and full accreditation status in 1982. In 2001, we joined the HLC's Academic Quality Improvement Program. Our current statement of affiliated status with the HLC allows us to offer thirteen bachelor's degrees. |

| What is AQIP? | |
AQIP stands for Academic Quality Improvement Program. It is one of two re-accreditation options offered by the Higher Learning Commission. AQIP accreditation operates cyclically. The reaffirmation of an institution's accreditation takes place every seven years. The appraisal of an institution's systems portfolio happens very four years. Action projects are identified, planned, enacted, evaluated, and retired every twelve-eighteen months. And, an institution's systems portfolio is updated as significant new data develop and process improvements are designed. The various cycles are depicted below. |

| AQIP Council | |
| The AQIP Council works to accomplish the mission and vision of the College through continuous organizational improvement. Voting members include reps from AQIP standing committees, process improvement teams, the Student Senate, Faculty Senate, Staff Councils, Leadership Team, and Provost's Office. Meetings take place on the second Tuesday of every month, from 9-11 in AD 101. Everyone is invited to attend. | |

Focused visit 2011 |
|
The College has been assigned a Focused Visit by the Higher Learning Commission. Peer evaluators will examine two recently approved Bachelor's Degrees, in Music and Integrated Studies, as well as support processes for all thirteen of the College's upper-level programs.
