Should you apply for financial aid?
Northern College strongly encourages all students to apply for financial aid. Because so many students come from two-income families, some of whom have more than one child in an educational setting simultaneously, it is not unusual for families with incomes totaling $80,000 to $100,000 or more to qualify for need-based aid.
Review your award notice carefully. Most financial aid awards are for the fall and spring semesters. Half of the funds will be available for the fall term while the other half is reserved for your spring term charges. If you plan to enroll for both semesters and your award is for one term only, please contact the financial aid office
The primary types of grants that students can receive at Northern are:

Satisfactory Academic Progress
New standards were put into place recently regarding the Northern New Mexico College's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy as it relates to financial aid. Three conditions are required for students to be eligible to receive financial aid: one concerns the number of successful credit hour completion ratio, one relates to a student's cumulative grade point average, and one addresses maximum time frame. It is very important that students read over the new requirements. Please click Satisfactory Academic Progress for a copy of the policy. Satisfactory Academic Progress
