NNMC 4th Annual Golf Tourney

The Northern New Mexico College 4th Annual President’s Golf Tournament, was the biggest tournament at Black Mesa Golf Club so far this year.  Northern extends deep gratitude to Black Mesa, and to the Northern Foundation Board, Rich Marquez, and the NNMC Board of Regents for their continued support of this important event.

Northern wishes to give special thanks to all the sponsors for this year’s Tournament. Top Sponsors were Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino, in the $3,000 Gold category; Paul Davis Restoration, our Silver Sponsor at $1800; and Friends at Los Alamos National Laboratories.

Bronze sponsors at the $750 level were: Compa Industries, Española Transit Mix, Franken Construction, Roby Financial, Santa Claran Hotel • Casino, Southwest Design, Valley National Bank, and Zia Credit Union.

There were 15 Hole Sponsors at the $150 level, 32 Teams, and 16 In-Kind Sponsors.

Contests and games were followed by lunch and comments from Northern President Dr. Barceló, as well as announcements of Tournament winners from Tom Velarde, Black Mesa’s Golf Pro.

The winning team came from Paul Davis Restoration; members were Lucky Trujillo, Eric Trujillo, Anthony Duran, and Geno Torres. Teams from ABQ Financial and Española Transit Mix came in a close second, and the team who finished last was Sanbros Corporation. That team will have free admission to next year’s Tournament.

This year’s golf tournament featured over 120 golfers from Española  and the surrounding region, and would not have been possible without the generous support of Black Mesa Golf Club, the many wonderful sponsors, the organizing efforts of College staff,  and volunteers from the College and community—including the women’s and men’s Northern Eagles basketball Teams.
