$Free Basic Residential Wiring, Hands-On Course

  • We will cover the fundamentals of Residential Wiring from the main electrical service panel to branch circuits that are used for lighting, receptacles, and appliance circuits.
  • Whether you're exploring a new trade or tackling DIY home projects, this course is a great place to start.

Carpentry Camp
July 9-10, 2025 • 9:00am -1:00pm • El Rito Campus • $189
Students will be covering door installation and drywall repairs. Hands on door and hardware installation, drywall patching, and drywall taping will be demonstrated.

  • The Chinese art of Tai Chi is a moving meditation and whole-body exercise for maintaining and building the health of mind and body. This class will introduce the long-form Tai Chi set as taught by Master May Lin-Sin, with a focus on basic principles.
  • Intended for people who are new to Tai Chi; no experience is required. It is also appropriate for those who have completed this course before and wish further practice.
  • Instructor Chris Ng is certified by the non-profit American Tai Chi Academy with more than 30 years of teaching Tai Chi.

Spanish Colonial Woodworking

Students will learn the 4 basic shuttle techniques used in Rio Grande Weaving.  Students will learn shuttle placement, balancing a pattern, and keeping edges straight.  Students will create samples of each technique with instructions to create a weaving portfolio.

Traditional Spanish Retablo Painting

Retablos are devotional paintings of religious figures on wood panels. This course, taught by Rose Price, will include:

  • Researching the history and the study of traditional retablos and artists.
  • Drawing religious figures (saints)
  • Practice using watercolors to paint figures
  • Learning the use of gesso (commercial or homemade)
  • The study of natural pigments (organic and Inorganic)
  • Preparing wood panels for painting
  • Painting a retablo with natural pigments
  • Varnishing a completed painted panel with (commercial or homemade varnishes)
