Luka Torrez, George Lopez, Mario Perez and Edwardo Martinez got the opportunity to practice the skills they have been learning in Northern’s Electrical Technology program as well as new construction techniques helping to build a solar powered gazebo that will let WCU students study outdoors in comfort.

The ceremonies honored June 19, 1865, the day the U.S. troupes informed slaves in Galveston, Texas, that they were free – more than two years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

His work as a coastal and island archaeologist has further distinguished him, to include international research collaborations, extensive publications, and a steadfast commitment to mentorship,” said NNMC President Hector Balderas.

Jun 16, 2025 The Rural CTE Alliance The Rural CTE (Career & Technical Education) Alliance for our future workforce held a think tank event at Northern New Mexico College on Thursday, June 12, 2025. The Rural CTE Alliance is a collaborative effort to address the unique challenges and opportunities in Career and Technical Education for rural communities. Dr. Kurt Steinhaus, former Secretary of the New Mexico Public Education Department (NMPED) served as master of ceremonies. He stressed that the focus of the think tank was on the stakeholders and that the goal was to learn more about their needs and gather their ideas.
